The Republic of Nauru, located in the central Pacific Ocean, is a coral atoll encompassing a solitary island and its surrounding maritime area.

It has a land area of 21.1 square kilometers within its 320,000 square kilometers exclusive economic zone. The country's management epicenter lies in the Yaren district.

With the population of 13,000, Nauru mainly comprise of Micronesian descent and people of other ethnic groups including Chinese, Filipinos, and descendants of Europeans. There are additional 2,000 Nauruan residents residing in Australia.

English and Nauruan are widely spoken languages, while Christianity, predominantly Protestantism, is the predominant religion.

Nauru operates under a presidential system. The president, who is both the Head of State and Head of the Government, is elected by the parliament. The government comprises the president and ministers appointed by the president, accountable to the parliament.

Nauru's GDP in 2022 reached $150 million. The GDP per capita is approximately $12,000.

Trade volume between China and Nauru increased 15.89 percent year-on-year in 2022 to $13.19 million, of which China exported about $13 million of goods to Nauru, while the island nation exported $107,000 to China.

In its history Nauru had been colonized and administered by multiple countries and ultimately claimed its independence from Britain on January 31, 1968.
